Quick answer
Share the date, head count, and every address, and we route it to independent providers working west Houston. In Katy, the drive into Houston on I-10 is the thing to plan around. Most big nights happen downtown or at NRG Park, so build the timing around Katy Freeway traffic.

Planning a night out in Katy
Katy is really two places: a small historic town and a much bigger stretch of suburbs that share its name. Old Katy, around the historic downtown, has restaurants and event spaces. The wider Katy area covers Cinco Ranch, Grand Lakes, and neighborhoods on both sides of I-10 across Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties. Katy Mills and Typhoon Texas sit side by side on the north side of I-10 at the west edge of town. Katy ISD's stadiums are the center of fall Friday nights. When groups head out, the route is usually I-10 east into Houston or the Grand Parkway north and south. Give providers the exact address, not just the word Katy, since the area covers a lot of ground.
What Katy groups book it for
Katy ISD drives much of the calendar: proms, homecomings, graduations, and big Friday night games at Legacy Stadium and the district's other stadiums. The Rice Harvest Festival brings crowds downtown in October. Summer birthdays head to Typhoon Texas, and shoppers fill Katy Mills. For bigger events, Katy groups ride into Houston for Texans games and Rodeo Houston at NRG Park, Astros and Rockets games downtown, and concerts. Weddings at venues west of town, toward Brookshire and Fulshear, need guest shuttles too.
What moves the price
Distance into Houston is the big cost driver. A trip from Katy to NRG Park or downtown adds a long ride each way, and Katy Freeway traffic stretches it at rush hour. Game and concert waits keep the bus on the clock. The Grand Parkway is a toll road, so ask whether tolls are included. If the provider is based in central Houston, ask whether the drive out to Katy lands on the bill.
When to book
Fall is the busiest season, with Friday night football, homecomings, Texans games, and the Rice Harvest Festival. Spring brings proms and graduations. Summer means Typhoon Texas and serious heat, so ask about the air conditioning. Hurricane season runs June through November, and heavy rain floods low roads west of Houston, so ask each provider about its weather plans.
What we see in real requests
Taken from quote requests people sent us. These are requests, not completed trips.
61% of every request we get is for a Saturday, and another 20% for a Friday. That is why Saturday availability is the first thing to ask about.
All markets · June 2023 – August 2026
Requests peak in April, July, and August, when prom, graduation, and wedding season all land at once. Spring dates are the ones that go first.
All markets · June 2023 – August 2026
4 hours is by far the most common ask: 71% of the requests that name a length come in at exactly that. Another 18% want 6 hours or more.

The Texas rules worth knowing
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles states that motor carriers operating intrastate commercial motor vehicles in Texas must register with the TxDMV Motor Carrier Division, including anyone who operates a vehicle designed to transport more than 15 passengers including the driver, and that carriers must hold a valid USDOT number, maintain an active insurance filing in the Texas Motor Carrier Credentialing System (TxMCCS), and keep a current cab card in the vehicle for presentation to law enforcement. Ask any Texas operator for its TxDMV certificate number, then run FMCSA's SAFER Company Snapshot and review FMCSA's passenger-carrier guidance; smaller vehicles may fall under city rules not reviewed here.

Katy questions, answered
How much does a party bus cost in Katy?
Quotes we have sent across Texas start around $200–$230 an hour, which puts a typical four-hour night at $840–$1,235. Your price depends on the date, the city, how many hours you need, the bus and your group size. It depends on vehicle size, date, hours, and how far into Houston you go. A local prom run prices differently from a Texans game at NRG. Ask each provider for a quote with minimum hours, gratuity, tolls, and fuel broken out, and ask whether travel time from its base is in the total.
Can a party bus take us from Katy to a Texans game at NRG Stadium?
Yes. Share the pickup, kickoff time, and whether you plan to tailgate. The ride runs east on I-10 and around the West Loop, and traffic builds early on game days. Ask where the bus drops and waits at NRG Park, and set a meeting spot for after the game.
Which Houston airport is easier to reach from Katy?
Neither is close. Hobby is southeast of downtown and IAH is far north, so both mean a drive across the metro. Pick whichever your flights use, then send the provider your flight number and bag count. Ask how delays are billed and where the driver will meet you.
Can we book a bus for Katy ISD prom?
Yes. List every pickup, photo stop, dinner, and the dance venue in order. Ask about the alcohol-free policy for student trips and whether the provider wants a parent contact on file. Group photos at one house first cut down on stops across Katy's spread-out neighborhoods.
Is Legacy Stadium a good place for a party bus drop?
It works for playoff games and big events, though the lots fill fast. Ask where buses usually drop and wait, and check the school district's event rules. Pick one meeting spot for after the game so the group isn't scattered across the parking areas.
Can we plan a night in Old Katy by party bus?
Yes. Old Katy has restaurants and event spaces around the historic downtown. List your stops, and ask where the driver can park nearby while you're inside. Pair it with a later stop in Houston or at a Cinco Ranch restaurant for a fuller evening.
What size party bus do most Katy groups need?
61% of every request we get is for a Saturday, and another 20% for a Friday. That is why Saturday availability is the first thing to ask about. That's what other Katy planners asked for — your own headcount is what decides it. Count everyone who is actually getting on, then add room for luggage, coolers, instruments or formalwear. Ask each company for the legal seated capacity of the exact vehicle they're offering. Most Katy requests are for weddings, bachelor parties, and bachelorette parties, and those nights want different amounts of floor space for the same headcount. A bus rated for twenty seats is not twenty comfortable seats in formalwear.
