Bethlehem Party Bus Planning: Musikfest, SteelStacks, Wind Creek, and Lehigh

Bethlehem is the second-largest city in the Lehigh Valley and is divided by the Lehigh River into two very different halves. The north side holds the Historic Moravian Bethlehem district, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2024, along with Main Street shops, Moravian University, and the Hotel Bethlehem; its colonial-era streets are narrow and heavily pedestrian. Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is about five miles north in Hanover Township, while Philadelphia and Newark are each roughly an hour and a half away.

Musikfest, produced by ArtsQuest, runs ten days in early August with free stages across the historic north side and at SteelStacks, closing Main Street and surrounding blocks and drawing crowds in the hundreds of thousands. Christkindlmarkt at SteelStacks runs from mid-November into December, and the historic district hosts Christmas City walking tours and Moravian Christmas events the same season. Wind Creek Bethlehem’s casino and event center book concerts and comedy year-round. Lehigh University home football at Goodman Stadium, including the Lehigh–Lafayette rivalry game in November, fills the mountain campus, and May commencement fills hotels. SouthSide First Fridays and the Celtic Classic in late September add regular downtown closures.

What affects the price

Bethlehem totals rise sharply during Musikfest, when north-side streets close, bridges back up, and providers are heavily booked. Wind Creek and SteelStacks releases jam the south side around Founders Way and the Minsi Trail Bridge, and Lehigh football and commencement add hillside congestion. Airport runs to ABE are short, while Philadelphia or Newark transfers add tolls and long interstate legs. Narrow historic streets often require a wider outer curb and a short walk. Ask providers to itemize minimum hours, deadhead, mileage, tolls, parking, waiting, gratuity, and overtime. Availability varies by date, vehicle, and provider; confirm in writing.

Timing and seasonality

Musikfest in early August is the peak transportation week, with street closures on both sides of the Lehigh River and hotels full across the valley. Christkindlmarkt and Christmas City events fill weekends from mid-November through December, and the Celtic Classic closes historic-district streets in late September. Lehigh University football runs September through November with the Lehigh–Lafayette game the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and Lehigh and Moravian commencements fall in May.
