Distance on a Mexico City map says very little about travel time. A route from Santa Fe to Polanco to the Centro Histórico can take a fraction or several multiples of its off-peak time depending on the hour, the day, and whether an event or a march has closed part of Reforma. The practical unit of planning is the fixed arrival — a stadium gate time, a restaurant reservation in Roma or Condesa, a flight — with the schedule built backwards from it. Write each stop as a full address, not a colonia, and ask the provider how much buffer it builds between stops at your hour of travel.
Venues and loading points in Mexico City
Large venues here run their own traffic plans on event days, and the streets around them are controlled well before doors open. Estadio Azteca in the south, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez complex in the east — home to the Mexican Grand Prix and to stadium concerts on the grounds — and the Palacio de los Deportes nearby each have designated areas for buses and charter vehicles that are rarely the public entrance.
